Today Wassookeagers and their friends were treated to a presentation by the University of Maine Debate Society, whose members conducted a debate on whether the US should sign the Kyoto Accord. After the formal debate, the U-Me students held a free-form discussion about climate change as well as their experience of the debate process itself.

In October Wassookeagers took a ferry to the Cranberry Islands to learn how its year-round settlers survived life far from mainland conveniences. In October Wassookeagers attended an opening of large-scale paintings by Angelo Ippolito, father of Wassookeag parent Jon Ippolito, at the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor.
Forging the Future representative Michael Katchen of Franklin Furnace presented the “Future of the Present” at the Society of American Archivists in San Francisco in August 2008. Michael focused on the coalition’s plans for combining folksonomy and taxonomy vocabularies.
